MEET ERIK

Ethical Leadership, Proven Results for Teller County

Hi.  I'm Erik Stone and I'm running for re-election for Teller County Commissioner for District 3.

I'm running because I believe that our County Commissioners are going to have to do even more to protect our freedoms and promote small government.  Here's a little info about me, my family and my commitment to Teller County:

I grew up in Wyoming, the son of retailers on Main Street in my small town.  We experienced the ups and downs of a boom and bust economy, learning to tighten our belts when times were tough.  I was raised in a family of hunters and outdoorsmen, so I was raised to respect firearms, wildlife and the land.

I met Jennifer, the love of my life and my wife of 26 years, at the University of Wyoming. We had two sons and in 2002, after the sale of one of my businesses, we had the unique opportunity to decide where and how we wanted to raise our boys.  We chose Teller County, Colorado.  We had always dreamed of living in the mountains, in a place where people respected and helped each other and where there was a tremendous sense of community. We found that in Woodland Park. Our boys got the opportunity to spend their entire childhood here, playing Parks and Rec sports, participating in the arts and community service and becoming proud graduates of WPHS.

I am a serial entrepreneur and currently own a digital marketing consulting firm and eCommerce companies that market tech products across the world. My wife is a school teacher at Woodland Park High School.

In 2006, I began to get involved with our local Teller County Republican Party, first as a delegate to the county assembly, then as a co-chair, treasurer, secretary and in 2016, I was elected as the chairman of the Teller County Republican Central Committee. As chairman, I brought the party into the 21st Century, adding social media, as well as revamping our website and email communications.  Our fundraising increased over 700%, enabling us to have a real impact both inside and outside the borders of Teller County.

In 2018, I interviewed with the Leadership Program of the Rockies (LPR) and am delighted to have graduated as a member of the class of 2019.  In my opinion, no one should ever serve in office if they have not completed the rigorous LPR program.  It is an intensive 10-month leadership program that focuses on our founding documents, natural rights, the morality of capitalism and the proper role of government. It was my experience in LPR that led me to realize that county commissioners are going to have to do more to protect our freedoms and promote small government.

In 2019 I led the fight against Prop CC in Teller County.  The marketing program I developed was adopted by multiple counties across Colorado and we impacted the outcome, protecting our Taxpayer Bill of Rights. I also led the petition effort in Teller County to repeal the National Popular Vote Law, giving voters an opportunity to reclaim Colorado's electoral votes for Colorado's voters. Since then I've become a founding member of "Protect Your Vote", a national 501c3 dedicated to saving our electoral college.

Over the past few years, I have served as vice chair of HD39, Vice Chair of JD4 and also serve as the chairman of the Colorado State GOP Rules Committee.
